Leisa Driscoll-Hayward – Senior Associate

Leisa joined HBS in 2023 with 20 years' experience in a broad range of litigation, legal publishing and national inquiries.

Leisa was admitted in 1998 and commenced with Moray & Agnew rotating through workers compensation, motor accident claims, employment, and work health and safety matters. Whilst travelling, she worked for a number of high profile firms in London including Clifford Chance and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

As a legal writer and editor, Leisa spent nearly a decade at CCH Australia (now Wolters Kluwer) during the emergence of digital platforms, optimising written content for solicitors and barristers on cases, commentary, news and legislation.  She partnered with academic experts and consultants in industrial relations; work, health and safety law; and torts, personal injury, health and medical law.

Whilst at the Attorney-General's Department Leisa was involved with complex national legal and policy inquiries and investigations including the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability, and the Defence and Veteran Suicide Royal Commission.

Leisa's employment practice involves advising a variety of clients (from individuals, small businesses through to national corporates) on the full spectrum of employment matters, including employment agreements, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements, personal grievances, workplace rights, dismissals, general protections and workplace investigations. She also advises clients in respect of litigated health and safety matters, investigations and prosecutions and regularly protects their interests in mediations and conciliations and in arbitrated hearings before the Fair Work Commission, in the District Court and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

In addition, Leisa has a variety of interests in social justice, mental health and human rights, including psychologically safe workplaces. She prides herself on developing authentic connections with stakeholders and bringing an empathetic approach to delivering effective solutions to her clients. Leisa writes professional articles for Hilliard and Berry Solicitors on employment and work health and safety compliance and legal developments.
